- Abstract
Turkish cultural elements, with the Ottoman Empire's conquest of the Balkans, began to settle in this region over time and some elements have become an integral part of the Balkan people. The influence of Turkish culture on the socio-cultural lives of Bosnians has especially been extensive. In this sense, Turkish word-borrowings still hold an importance place in Bosnian language today so much so that different types of words belonging to Ottoman Turkish have secured their places in diverse parts of Bosnian literature and the resultant outcomes have become integral elements of the emergent literature. In this regard, the Turkish elements in Sevdalinka, which can be considered as folk songs of Bosnian folk literature, are as significant as constituting their essence. In this research, the Turkish elements in Sevdalinka, which take a very important place in Bosnian Folk Literature are studied in a systematic way. We can see many reseaches on the Turkish words in Bosnian language but very few researches have been done about Sevdalinka recently. Many works on Sevdalinkas have been compiled and the Turkish elements in these works have been classified in this reseach. Determining Turkish elements, which attribute various meanings and which forme the essence of Sevdalinkas, will contribute a great deal to Turkish culture, language and literature.
