- Abstract
The article examines the U.S. Supreme Court rulings which held that a failure to provide medical care to prisoners is a violation of the U.S. Constitution's Eighth Amendment's prohibition against cruel and unusual punishment. Topics discussed include changes infrastructure of correctional facilities; enactment of Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA); benefits of implementing a policy for suspending Medicaid enrolment; and Medicaid eligibility for inmates is of key importance.
