- Title
The Lifecycle of Scandal in Mass Media: Some Case Studies.
- Authors
Monteiro, Basilio G.; Fleming, Tara
- Abstract
This paper examines the life-cycle of what constitutes a scandal in mass media. The authors particularly use the ten criteria of the framework developed by Lull and Hinerman to examine two international, two national, and two local scandals. The examination confirms that the Lull- Hinerman framework is a useful set of criteria to understand how mass media constructs scandals and how they play out in the marketplace of mass media.
