- Abstract
The article discusses a study made by R. B. Nogueira et al on pericardial effusion in dogs, which they say is commonly linked to neoplasia or idiopathic pericarditis. The study involved 8- to ten-year-old pedigree dogs showing lethargy, muffled heart sounds, and weak femoral pulse. Among its findings is that the use of Duplex Doppler ultrasonography (DDU) on the common femoral artery enabled the detection of variations in systolic speeds in dogs affected by pericardial tamponade.
