- Abstract
The article focuses on the paternalism in various areas of the law and in securities regulation and the policies of benevolence, empathy, welfare, and efficiency, while anti-paternalists raise concerns about autonomy, liberty, free will, and slippery slopes. Topics discussed include mandatory disclosure rules or financial education policies, legal paternalism about the well-being of others and the broader market and paternalistic intervention in an individual's life choices.
