- Title
UNITED STATES V. ALVAREZ: DEFAMING THE MEDAL OF HONOR THROUGH LIES, DECEIT, AND THE FIRST AMENDMENT.
- Authors
McWilliams, Christine
- Abstract
The author argues that the U.S. Supreme Court's ruling in the freedom of speech case United States v. Alvarez threatens the integrity of previous court judgments in America which have held that there was little to no protection under the U.S. Constitution's First Amendment for false statements of fact. The U.S. Stolen Valor Act of 2005 is addressed, along with lies and deceit. Defamation cases in America and the U.S. Congressional Medal of Honor are also examined.
