- Abstract
The article explores history of Public Works Administration (PWA) formerly called the Federal Emergency Administration of Public Works as a large-scale public works construction agency in the U.S. as part of the New Deal of 1933. Topics discussed include purpose of the PWA to help recover the economy, stabilize purchasing power, and provide employment; PWA's projects that required financial participation on the part of the local sponsor; and allocations of PWA' funds to private companies.
