- Title
FOOD FOR THOUGHT.
- Abstract
The article presents long-term recommendations aimed at integrating sustainability into the value proposition of grocery chains in Canada. First and foremost, grocers should consider re-examining their supply chains to increase locally-sourced food, which could reduce transportation costs and shorten supply lag time. Responsibly-farmed fish, as well as low-carbon transportation should also be encouraged by grocery chains. Lastly, grocery chains should provide FSC-certified paper products, which would allow consumers to recognize products supporting the growth of responsible forest management worldwide.
