- Authors
Tressler, David M.
- Abstract
The article discusses the findings of a survey of U.S. military officers serving in Iraq and Afghanistan on the use of negotiation on the Stability, Security, Transition and Reconstruction (SSTR) operation of the U.S. forces. The structural approach in civilian-military negotiation in SSTR and its key elements like context, culture and power are studied. Suggestions like negotiation tactics and techniques integrating research and field experience and the conduct of pre-deployment negotiation training for soldiers involved in SSTR are discussed.
