- Abstract
Iraq is currently facing a dangerous wave of the Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever (CCHF) epidemic, which has been a recurring issue for several decades. The first cases were recorded on May 1, 2022, and by May 9, the number of cases had increased to 40, with 20 deaths. CCHF is caused by a virus transmitted by ticks and can lead to severe illness and hemorrhagic complications. The case-fatality rates range from 5-30%. The Iraqi Ministry of Health needs to take this epidemic seriously and be prepared for any emergency it may cause.
