- Abstract
The article discusses the results from the Trends in Mathematics and Science Study and the Program for International Student Assessment regarding science and mathematics educational achievement. The scores from the assessment showed that U.S. eighth-graders have improved in the two subjects significantly, while fourth-graders have maintained their scores from the previous assessment. In the high school level, the result showed that U.S. students scored lower than the international average. The results for the assessment suggest the need to provide support for science education as well as the role of teachers in telling their students to apply science concepts and processes in their daily lives.
