- Abstract
The article is an adaptation of a presentation at the Frick Museum in January 2013, on the subject of the 18th century study drawings of the French artist Antoine Watteau. Topics discussed include the concept of temporality and how it is present in Watteau's 18th century work, his drawing "Five Studies of a Woman's Head," and his drawing "Four Studies of a Woman's Head and Two of a Seated Woman." The presence of repetition in his drawings, the importance of the poses of his models for his drawings, and the various motifs in his drawings are also examined.
