- Abstract
We study the influence of external electromagnetic fields in the course of underwater welding on the microstructure of the metal of low-alloy steel welded joints. By the methods of optical and transmission electron microscopy, we study the microstructure, phase composition, and specific features of dislocation structures of the metal of welded joints obtained both without using electromagnetic fields and in the presence of fields. On the dislocation level, we analyze the influence of structural factors on the local internal stresses specifying the zones of localization of deformations in the structures of the upper and lower bainite in the metal of welded joints. The conditions required for getting high-quality welded joints with high crack-growth resistance as a result of underwater welding of low-alloy steels are established.
