- Abstract
Phase transitions and thermal deformations of a- and ß-Cs2(UO2)2(MoO4)3 were studied by high-temperature X-ray diffraction analysis. In heating of a-Cs2(UO2)2(MoO4)3 to 625 ± 25°C, the reconstructive phase transition a ? ß proceeds. ß -Cs2(UO2)2(MoO4)3 is stable up to 700 ±25°C. The thermal expansion of both phases is sharply anisotropic: a11 = 10 × 10-6, a22 = 33 × 10-6, a33 = 10 × 10-6, aV = 53 × 10-6 deg-1 for a -Cs(UO2)2(MoO4)3 and a11 = 13 × 10-6, a33 = 3 × 10-6, aV = 31 × 10-6 deg-1 for ß-Cs2 (UO2)2 (MoO4)3. The anisotropy of thermal expansion is explained by features of the crystal structure of the compounds.
