- Abstract
The article focuses on the study which detects and locate critically endangered North Pacific right whales (Eubalaena japonica) by using air-deployed passive sonobuoys. The study performs aerial surveys from July 14 to Auguts 25, 2009 with acoustic equipment, sonobuoy hydrophones, and Directional Frequency Analysis and Recording (DiFAR) data to locate North Pacific right whales. Results show that the combination of visual and acoustic sampling has been effective in locating endangered species.
