- Abstract
Preventing accidents in the construction industry, where fatal and heavy injuries are common, is with regard to the value of human life as well as the economics, considering labor and actual cost. Workplace accidents and occupational health and safety problems have not been successfully restrained not only in Turkey but also in other countries and hence further consideration of these issues is required. The purpose of this study is to create an integrated system which aims to aid technical staff to be aware of HSE processes during the execution phase of a construction project. This integration is comprised of construction schedule and safety management system in a combined schedule. All activities, documents, and procedures related to health and safety within the context of this study have been prepared in accordance with ISO 45001 and HSE regulation under the supervision of HSE Expert Engineers in a focus group. Moreover, Integrated Occupational Health and Safety Management Schedule has been created using critical path method (CPM) as a planning technique in Primavera version P6 software. Moreover these HSE activities, documents and procedures have been inserted into the construction work schedule as an additional activity or resource under the supervision of HSE Expert Engineers in the focus group. This safety integrated work schedule aims to facilitate technical staff to have an understanding of all HSE processes in the timeline of construction execution phase while promoting awareness about construction activity sequences to the HSE Site Engineers for taking actions related to safety processes.
