- Abstract
This article examines the dissemination and circulation of monumental landscapes during the reign of Isabel II. Specifically, it focuses on the analysis of the compositions of the landscape painter Genaro Pérez Villaamil and the valorisation of his work as "patriotic" by the artistic critics of the time. The aim of the article is to investigate the processes of nationalisation from the cultural sphere of the mid-19th century, focusing on the mediators and the reception of these artistic works. To do this, the study uses a hybrid methodology between studies on nationalisation in Spain and the analysis of nineteenth-century visual culture.
