The author reflects on popular music and politics in the United States. He discusses the musical era of the 1960s which included the group The Beatles, the Woodstock concert, and the protest songs against the Vietnam War. The author suggests that popular culture studies can be examined through protest songs in music with the book "The MC5 and Social Change: A Study in Rock and Revolution," by Mathew J. Bartkowiak.
