- Authors
Worley, Christopher G.
- Abstract
The article presents a response to "Defixation as Intervention Perspective Understanding Wicked Problems at the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs" published elsewhere in this issue. The article's case study of an effort at organizational change is said to reflect a dilemma affecting all organizations, they are rewarded by their clients/customers for stability while at the same time pressured to make changes by those same persons or organizations. At the same time, the authors are criticized for their assumptions regarding the role of consultants helping an organization address difficult problems. The consultant is said to not have the right nor ability to force change onto an organization, and the dramatic intervention portrayed in the article is seen as a poor guide to general practice.
