- Title
Flight of the Imagination.
- Abstract
The article discusses the development of Concorde, the first supersonic airliner. The airliner was constructed largely for Great Britain to compete with the United States' control of the airline industry. The project, supported by the governments of France and Britain, was largely carried out by the British Airways Corporation (BAC). The airliner was negatively received by the nation's environmental movement. Concorde's relatively high travel costs made it obsolete following the development of mass air travel.
