- Abstract
The New Garden Friends School of Greensboro, North Carolina, opened in 1971 with six grades, a kindergarten, four teachers, and 58 students. The Quaker school continued at various locations under more than a dozen heads and employed over a hundred Guilford College interns. It included a high school during 1980-87 and had an enrollment of 158 in 1995, at which time it was housed in two permanent buildings and continued to offer an experimental, racially mixed program for middle schoolers.
