- Abstract
The article presents information on the international law related to marine mammals mainly cetaceans and the international agreements related to the International Convention for the Regulation of Whaling (ICRW) and the Convention on the Law of the Sea in the 1982 United Nations. The weaknesses in the ICRW, the objection clauses and permit provisions are discussed. The obligations of the member states and of the International Whaling Commission are also discussed.
