- Abstract
The Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory-Second Edition-Restructured Form (MMPI-2-RF; Tellegen & Ben-Porath, 2008) is the recent restructuring of the MMPI-2. Research on the MMPI-2 L scale (Duris, Bjorck, and Gorsuch, 2007) found that Christians endorsed a false response to some items more than the normal population, resulting in elevated L scale scores. The purpose of this study was to clarify the effects of the restructuring of the L scale on the evaluation of outpatient Christian test-takers. Archival data were collected from 166 case files of outpatients receiving services at a university-based psychological services center. Results indicated that the Christian religious endorsement sample demonstrated a higher mean L-r scale score than the MMPI-2-RF normative sample. Several L-r scale items identified in previous research were similarly endorsed in this study, but few items were differentially endorsed between genders in the Christian sample. Implications, limitations, and directions for future research are discussed.
