- Abstract
At the beginning of the twentieth century, in Havana, the technical requirements of timber as a construction material together with the desire to be fashionable gave rise to an architecture in wood that assimilated in its decoration the ornamental masonry detailing typical of contemporary Neoclassical and Eclectic architecture. Cuban traditional construction methods and techniques were combined with influences from abroad, especially from the US, to create a local product.
