- Abstract
The article discusses word stress in the Albanian language, with particular focus given to the importance of vowel-stress. More specifically, the author explains the relationships between stress assignment and word stems. He notes various features of Albanian word stress, including the stressing of one syllable in word forms and the right-stem-edge orientation of stress, as well as the connection between stress and syllable weight. The ways in which Albanian word stress can inform phonological theory are also outlined.
