- Abstract
The article discusses the history of Asian women immigrants in Oregon, noting legal discrimination as a factor in the citizenship of Asian American women. Topics include the portrayal of Asian American women in Portland, Oregon as prostitutes, the phenomenon of picture brides marrying men in the U.S. before having met them then immigrating, and the effects of legislation on immigration. Groups addressed included Chinese, Japanese, and Korean women. It is said that Asian women were not subservient in their relation to immigration regulations.
