- Abstract
The article focuses on the East Bay Center for the Performing Arts in Richmond, California as a model for community-based multicultural arts education. The mission of the center of the performing arts is to provide art-rich experiences for students from low socio-economic status (SES) communities. It is clarified that the center is not a conservatory with the goal of making its students the next generation of performing artists. The article also cites the objectives of arts education and arts practices.
