- Abstract
Perception operation makes masses think in a certain direction by penetrating into their brains. Through systematic perception operations on masses, people in these masses can be controlledby others without even realizing it. Those who carries out these operations can make people think, act and behave in a certain direction and support the ideology that operators want them to support. The ones who aim at seizing control of brains of masses through techniques like propaganda and psychological wars can reach their aims more easily, duetouncontrollabledigital media. They canmakemasses a part of their dirty games and can use them in line with their desires. Digital media, which is easy to access anywhere and anytime, is used in order to manage masses' perceptions through a lot of photos, videos and other contents. As these messages are received without questioning the accuracy most of the time, perceptions can be managed in the desired way. In this study, world-wide popular perception operations toward the Republic of Turkey in recent years were analyzed. Photographsthet were shared on digital media in order to defame political, military, economic, and socio-cultural decisions or practices of the Republic of Turkey were semiologically analyzed. It is aimed to reveal dimensions of the perception operations through shared signs.
