- Abstract
The authors present their thoughts on marketing and advertising in the pharmaceutical industry and related government policies. They discuss how the medical condition polycythemia vera (PV) was featured in the plot of television soap opera "General Hospital" through a partnership with the Incyte Corporation to increase awareness for myeloproliferative neoplasm (MPN). Direct-to-consumer advertising, disease awareness ethics, and drug sales are also covered.
