- Abstract
Diabetes significantly impairs the healing process, including ulcers in diabetic foot (DF). Negative-pressure wound therapy (NPWT) which significantly accelerates the healing of ulcers, becomes more common method of wound healing. One of the mechanisms which plays role in the healing process is acceleration of blood vessels formation. The aim of the study was to select the cytokines from the panel of 50 angiogenetic factors, that plays the most significal role in neovascularisation in DF patients treated with NPWT. An assessment of the level of angiopoetic factors was analysed by tissue microarrays on two patients treated with NPWT and two patients using conventional treatment. The level of angiopoetic factors profile in various stages of wound healing allowed to select six main cytokines involved in proper healing (angiogenin, serpin E1, II-8, MMP-9, TIMP-1, endostatin). The effects of the preliminary selection would allow to explain the molecular basis of NPWT in patients with DF on representative sample.
