- Authors
Marsh, Paul E.
- Abstract
The article discusses a survey which looks at backcountry adventure as spiritual development. Interviews were conducted in Teton Pass, Wyoming, and participants included backcountry skiers, telemarkers and snowboarders. The values reflecting spiritual development were identified, which include transcendent experience, increased experience, and sense of fulfillment. According to half of the informants, spiritual experiences of varying degrees occurred for them in all of their backcountry activities, including climbing, hiking, alpine and telemark skiing, and snowboarding.
