- Abstract
The article presents a biography of William Jefferson Hardin, an African American resident of Park City, Utah. Hardin was born in Russellville, Kentucky in 1831 from a racially-mixed background. He was raised among the Shaker community of South Union, Kentucky and served in the Union army during the U.S. Civil War. He later moved west to Denver, Colorado, where he became a civil rights advocate. He also served in the Wyoming House of Representatives and in the Park City Liberal Party.
