- Abstract
The article discusses the social context of labrets, or lip-plugs, within coastal British Columbia's (BC's) First Nations people's material culture, through referencing archaeology in the region. The article provides several charts and diagrams on labrets, including on labret design and classification. The role that labrets played in First Nations peoples' social status is discussed.
