- Abstract
The aim this study was evaluated the prevalence of livers condemnations during slaughter. Were evaluated 100,723 animals slaughtered in the period from April 1, 2010 to March 31, 2011 in a abattoir in the region of Presidente Prudente, state of São Paulo. According with evaluations in the line of inspection and parasitological analysis, the livers were classified by the type of alterations encountered. Of the total, 5.17% had at least one type of hepatic alteration, from these the major prevalence encountered were inflammatory alterations. The alterations classified as extra-hepatic were the major cause of liver condemnations at slaughter and telangiectasis the major individual cause. In general, the prevalences encountered were consistent with literature and reinforce the importance of knowledge and identification of hepatic alterations at slaughter.
