- Abstract
The article provides an overview on kidney cancer. It notes that renal cancer is caused by different gene including von Hippel-Lindau (VHL), a gene for the hereditary cancer syndrome. It also offers information on the genetic defect underlying hereditary papillary renal carcinoma (HPRC) which is known as MET, the cell surface receptor for hepatocyte growth factor. Moreover, it discusses BHD gene also known as folliculin or FLCN, a gene for Birt-Hogg-Dube (BHD) syndrome.
