- Abstract
This article presents information about the Special Musgrave Award recipient, the Revival movement of Jamaica. The award was presented for Revival's efforts in the field of cultural development. Revivalism is the first Jamaican religion and was founded by Afro-Jamaicans to help them find and maintain their African identity. The Revival was organized by Christian missionaries to attract converts from the slave population, but the church meetings were characterized by African spirit possession and the religion and its ceremonies and rituals were greatly influenced by African religion.
