- Abstract
When visiting the doctor, every patient feels tension. In the dental chair and during the course of intraoral therapy procedures, the patient's ability to communicate and react is limited. The atmosphere in the treatment room is emotionally absorbed by the patient. During the suspended treatment situation, the controlled use of humor, cheerfulness, and entertainment allows the patient and the team to relax emotionally. Actively involve patients in the positive team atmosphere as listeners and spectators. Depending on the patient's age and the duration of the therapy, it is important to find the right language and topic level as an emotional accompaniment. Laugh away fears together. Put comfort problems into perspective with humor without trivializing them. Take worries seriously, but present them differently. Laughing together is the best way to relax, entertain, and avoid conflict. Those who have laughed with the team and feel comfortable will hardly complain afterwards. Communal laughter at the dental chair is a catalyst to turn patients into friends and fans.
