INVESTIGATING CAUSALITY BETWEEN INTERNATIONAL TRADE INFLOWS AND OUTFLOWS: ROMANIA'S CASE.
- Authors
Stoian, Andreea; Campeanu, Emilia
- Abstract
The article presents a study which aims to investigate the causal relationship between exports and imports of current accounts in Romania. The study looked into the formation of current account deficit and applied the Granger causality test to analyze the synchronization between the inflows and outflows of international trade in the country. The article explores the empirical investigation to measure the degree of dependency of the two variables based on the available quarterly data on exports and imports in 1998 and 2005 as provided by National Bank of Romania. The investigation reveals that there is no synchronization nor a causal relationship between international trade inflows and outflows.
