- Authors
McDonald, Carl
- Abstract
In this article, the author reflects on the health care benefit of bacterial testing by using culture techniques that can reduce the risk of transmission of bacteria and septic reactions in recipients. According to the author, this method has resulted in a reduction in clinical cases of transfusion-transmitted infection in the U.S. He states that the bacterial testing has increased the safety of the blood supply with the benefits of detecting bacteria associated with disease in donors.
