- Abstract
The apical thrombus has differences in contrast uptake with the smaller superimposed portion (fresh thrombus) showing more contrast uptake than the apical (old) thrombus Echocardiographically, the apical thrombus could be delineated as a two-layered thrombus with a larger hypoechogenic and smaller superimposed hyperechogenic portion with irregular shape (panel d). On the basis of multi-modality cardiac imaging findings, we presumed a fresh thrombus formation on top of an old thrombus in the apical aneurysm which caused the acute thromboembolic myocardial infarction.
