Abstract
The article presents a historical narrative about the July 1945 combat action involving Martin PBM patrol bomber flying boats in the Pacific Ocean during World War II. Topics discussed include the encounter between two PBM and three Japanese fighter planes, the change of course performed by U.S. Navy (USN) Lieutenant Junior Grade Guy Eby following the attack, and the damage to the PBM piloted by USN Lieutenant R. S. Scott after the combat action.
