- Abstract
The history of the "Queer Stories" class at the University of Montana illustrates the role of articulation in identity politics. This study explores discursive power in academic, media, and legal arenas, analyzing a history of representation in a setting where the signifier queer produces a discursive explosion. Bringing articulation theory to bear on a specific queer context, this essay shows how discourse can produce change, how academic "writes" are instrumental in the struggle for "rights."
