- Abstract
Modern technological solutions enable independence and involvement of older people, who, through their experience and knowledge, can significantly contribute to the development of society. Therefore, in today's digital society as well as in everyday life, information and communication technology (ICT) is playing an increasingly important role - in work, daily contacts, public services, leisure activities and participation in the local community. Supported by ICT, older people have more opportunities, face less discrimination and are enabled to live independently in their home environment. The potential of ICT to support older people and the communities in which they live is increasing. We interviewed director of the French organization E-Seniors, Mrs Monique Epstein about the experience of bringing ICT to older people. She told us about the development of their organization, their computer courses for older persons, how they are constantly adapting to technological development and the needs of their main target group - older people, how it is to work at the local level in France, about intergenerational cooperation and their involvement in local communities. She is well aware of the role and great potential of ICT in supporting the independent life of older people and the opportunities it offers in their participation in society. We also learned about support from the state and the local community, as well as participation in European projects and associations.
