- Abstract
The article discusses the characteristics of persons submitting applications in 1962 for participation in National Science Foundation (NSF) Institute Programs at the University of Georgia. Sixty-eight and nine-tenths percent of the school people had ages of 25 through 39 with a median of 34 years. According to the article, majority of the applicants held either the bachelor of science or the bachelor of arts degree. Two-thirds of the applicants earned a bachelors degree at public institutions. One hundred and two of the teachers had no credit in professional education. Forty-four percent of the educators had participated in previous NSF Institutes. Approximately 10 percent of the applicants belonged to a scientific society.
