Information about several papers presented the second session of the Thoreau Society Sessions at the Modern Language Association in December 2007 titled "Transcendentalism in a Time of War" is presented. The author suggests that the Transcendentalists' contributions to the ideology of nonviolent resistance cannot be ignored in spite of the fact that some of them used physical force to achieve their wartime ends.
