- Abstract
The article offers information on the development of interest by author Charles Dickens to the Alps. It says that Dickens's interest in the region and the treatment of Switzerland had begun from 1840s until late 1860s when the region has been facing rapid changes. It states the fascination of the author to the region had stemmed from his personal attraction to the sublimity and beauty of the environment. It adds that several fictional works written Dickens adopt the Alps as their environment.
