- Abstract
Within the urban growth of Havana between 1940-1960 numerous residential subdivisions constituted true laboratories of the architecture of the Modern Movement. However, much of that universe remains ignored by specialized literature despite possessing value attributes. It is striking that the authorship of many of these works fell on architects and recognized firms of the time, such as Raúl Álvarez and Enrique Gutiérrez who, despite their celebrity, remain undisclosed part of their production. This study explores, from the analysis of documentary archival sources and fieldwork, part of his work at south of Havana with the purpose of contributing to the knowledge and better understanding of the codes that characterized the repertoire of the firm in Cuba, while promoting the dissemination of modern Cuban heritage ignored by critics.
