- Abstract
The article presents a study where the activation energies for crystal growth of anorthite in an anorthite stoichiometry glass composition and gehlenite have been determined. The determination of the activation energy for crystal growth has been carried out for a wide range of glass compositions. Scientists have criticized the determination of activation energies in systems where the composition of the crystal formed is significantly different from that of the original glass and points out that the technique is most valid where the composition of the crystal and the glass are identical. However the activation energy for crystal growth has only been determined for relatively few stoichiometric glasses.
