- Authors

- Abstract
This article describes the domains of practice that comprise the Clinical Practice Guidelines for Quality Palliative Care. The guidelines were developed through the consensus of these organizations: American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine, Center to Advance Palliative Care, Hospice and Palliative Nurses Association, Last Acts Partnership, and National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization. The first domain of the guidelines emphasized the significance of an individualized comprehensive interdisciplinary plan of care. The second domain stressed the need for nurses, physicians and other members of the palliative care team to be knowledgeable and skilled at preventing and managing potentially distressing symptoms. A third domain focused on the essentiality of assisting patients and families with psychological and psychiatric issues.
