- Authors
Claybaugh, Amanda
- Abstract
This article examines the context of transatlanticism in the tours that Charles Dickens made in 1842 and subsequently described in the book "American Notes for General Circulation." During the tour, Dickens participated in several Anglo-American suffrage and anti-slavery reform networks while attempting to control the literary market. Several scholars that have raised arguments concerning transatlanticism included Richard Gravil, Leon Chai, George P. Landow, Susan Manning and Jonathan Arac.
